Friday marked six years of blogging, creating social content, and talking myself hoarse about bedsharing. I spent the week thinking about what I want to focus on for this next year, and what I want to leave behind.
For year seven, I want to prioritize work that lights me up and leaves me feeling full — working closely with families, finally getting my book into your hands, sending my weekly Cuddle Curl emails, and writing blog posts like this one.
These posts will be short and sweet. They are gonna be whimsical, uplifting love letter to this season of life. Look forward to inspiration for another quiet week at home, with your baby. For thoughtfully-curated recommendations from me to help you actually enjoy this chapter of life.
These are reminders that you’re not the only one with a baby in your bed.
(Because you’re not.)
How Do You Switch Sides of the Bed If You Are Bedsharing With a Baby and a Toddler?
I noticed a new comment on last year’s demo reel of me switching sides of the bed as I bedshare. A mom named Carrie asked, “What should I do about switching positions when there’s a toddler on my back side?”
Unfortunately, there isn’t a convenient solution for this situation.
If you are bedsharing with an infant and an older toddler/big kid, you’ve always got to ensure that there is an adult body acting as a barrier in-between the two children.
This may mean that your partner needs to sleep in-between you and your older child, or perhaps it’d be easier if you were only bedsharing with the baby. There isn’t an easy answer for things like this, but it’s important because it’s about your baby’s safety.
I can only do so much in an Insta comment. If you want me to help you transition your toddler or big kid out of your bed before the new baby arrives, book a 60-minute call with me here.
Hot Tip: Floating Headboards Will Level-Up Your Floor Bed
A family I worked with recently installed these floating headboards on the wall beside their floor bed. They bought them to fill up a small-but-problematic gap between the mattress and wall, which is genius.
As I thought more about these handy little tools, I realized they come with other benefits, too…
- They make sitting up and nursing baby much more comfy
- They make the floor bed look a lot more “grown up”
- They’ll help when baby begins rolling into the wall in his/her sleep
If you want to make your floor bed cuter and comfier, I highly recommend!

How Do You Bedshare With a Newborn?
I made a post with my friend Jess of @feedingtosleep to demonstrate the safe way to cuddle curl with a newborn baby. If you are a visual learner, you need to see this post!
What Does Unsafe Bedsharing Look Like?
Hayley from @thenurtureduo generously gave me an old photo of her sleeping with her baby in an unsafe way. We turned it into two posts — one sharing her story and the other pointing out the specific hazards in the photo.
What Are You Reading During Contact Naps?
I’m running low on rom-coms. I just started one with a “grumpy-sunshine” trope called 10 Things That Never Happened, by Alexis Hall. It takes place during the holidays and I wanted to save it, but I’m desperate for something.
What is your favorite romance trope?
- Enemies to lovers
- Friends to lovers
- Forced proximity
- Fake dating
Personally, I enjoy all of these tropes except friends to lovers. And I love a sloooow burn.
DID YOU KNOW? I have read hundreds of books on my phone over the last few years while lying beside my sleeping boys through the Libby app. All for free. Download the app, enter your library card, find a good book, and dive in!
(You can send the book to your e-reader, if you’d prefer!)
I generally suggest a gentle genre for this season of life, like romance or mystery!
